Moderator. Joined 04/24/03. After some 30 years as an Industrial Chemist I'd decided it was enough of the smelly chemicals and time to develop a life-long hobby into a much better way of working ... getting made redundant being the spark that set it all off :-) So now set myself up as a PC Repair guy and the work is slowly building up, in the meantime there's lots of time spent in the various PC Help groups - assisting others and in the process picking up new ideas ( this is a very fast moving technology !! ) No matter how busy I get though there'll always be time for this side of my PC world ...I enjoy it too much to give it up < lol > |

Moderator. Joined 11/23/03. I got my first Commodore 4k Pet, computer back in the seventies. I have gradually worked my way through the IBM 8080 processors, Apple 11e's, Mack's, and through the clones, 386, 486, MMX200's, AMD K6/233. All the way up to my current AMD Thunderbird 2200, with 1gig memory, and 120GB hard drive. I currently have 3 computers running on my home network, running Win 98Se and Win XP pro. Mike ~ It is a good day if I learned something new! |

I have a hubby of 48 years, two sons, no grandchildren and a rotten Cockers Spaniel named Scamp. I got my first computer in 1984, a Commodore 64 and have had a long love affair with computers ever since. I have used just about every flavor of Windows (not ME) and currently I am using Windows XP Pro and also have a system with Windows 98SE. |

I live in the
North East of England with my hubby Dave, we have three grown up
children and three grandchildren. I got my first computer in
1992 a second hand Amstrad PCW586 which soon had me hooked and
wanting something better, I bought my first "proper" computer
six months later, an Intel 486 running Windows 95. At present I
have two self build desktops and an IBM laptop but I'm getting
the urge to build something better, so hopefully in the not to
distant future my next project will be on the bench. |

Hello Everyone, |

Moderator.
Hi All - As requested a bit about myself. I’m an Army brat
raised on a Navy (Construction Battalion) Base. I grew up
surrounded by electronics as my stepfather was a programmer
for the Collins Radio’s NASA Deep Space Tracking Network
contract. My first experience actually using a computer was
in the 80’s when I had to use an old Xerox 860 machine
(simple word processor) that had two 5 ¼” floppy drives, one
for the program and the second for the data. My first
personal computer was a RadioShack TRS-80 CoCo-II, not
exactly a brilliant machine but not bad for it’s time and it
had the benefit of being able to accept user written
programs stored on a cassette tape (the days of Basic). I
learned almost everything I know by the trial and error
route. I tried it , broke it, researched what I had done
wrong and figured out how to fix it.
I am also a moderator for the online US Navy Chiefs’ Mess. While our original home and now our backup is on Yahoo Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chief/) the primary website is (www.chiefsmess.org), As some already know I’m a retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer. I joined the Navy in 1972 and attended numerous training programs, including the Naval Nuclear Power School at Mare Island California and Idaho Falls Idaho. I served on numerous ships and stations and finally retired in 1993 as a Chief Electrician’s Mate, immediately upon returning from Somalia and Operation Restore Hope. Since I retired from the Navy I have built ships, been a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and worked in a tech support call center. I am currently a Special Ed aide for the county in a local high school but hoping to be hired by Caterpillar. I live in Yorkville, Illinois with my wife, our soon to be son (according to the ultrasound tests), and numerous critters.

The CT&T Team
The group was created July 21/2002. Shortly after I created the group, Bernie joined as my first Moderator. As time went by and the group began to grow, we appointed additional moderators. Eventually I appointed Bernie as Co-owner of the group. The entire team is well experienced in Computers and the Internet with a good reputation all around the ITT communities.
